Recovery Protocol

The Recovery Protocol is a set of steps meant to help improve the body’s autonomic nervous system. This protocol should only be used under the supervision of a licensed physician and does not constitute medical advice. Step 1
Stop Probiotics and Daily Multivitamins
Start Interphase 1 to 2 times daily
Histamine/ Serotonin Testing
Consider Rifaximin 500mg bid for 10 days (prescription)

Step 2
Begin Inulin after Rifaximin completed
Dose 1/8 to 1/ 4 tsp inulin powder 1-2 times daily to max 2 tsp daily
Alternative Inulin Gummies (Fiber choice, Phillips, Fiber Good)
Consider starting prebiotics Botaben Powder and /or Galactimmune Powder (Prothera)
Histamine/ Serotonin treatment drops

Step 3
Increase omega 3’s fish oils (DHA – brain fraction, EPA, ALA)
source New foods, Nordic Naturals, Carlson, Cod liver oil, others
Dose EPA + DHA fractions
0-6 mos 150mg
7-12 mos 300-450mg
1-5 yrs 450-600mg
5-7 yrs 600-1000 mg
8-10 yrs 1000 – 1500 mg
11-14 yrs 1500-2000 mg
15-18 yrs 2000-3500 mg
Adults need minimum of 3000 mg DHA portion daily

Step 4
Adults add ALA fraction from nuts, flax, chia
Dose 1/ 4 cup nuts/day
1/ 2 to 1 tbsp flax / day
Gel or oil 500 – 1000 mg / day

Step 5
Stop use of Soy, Sunflower, Corn, Safflour, Cottonseed, Grapeseed, Peanut, Shortnening,
And Margarine (omega 6 oils)
Start Canola, Coconut, Palm Kernal Oil (omega 3 oils) Olive oils (omega 9 oil)
Start Omega 9 (oleic ) supplementation – California extra virgin olive oil www.cooc.com
Dose 5-10 years 1/ 2 tbsp daily
11-18 years 1 tbsp daily
Adult 2 tbsp daily

Step 6
Vagal Nerve Stimulation
Consider H1/H2 blockade
Increase Hydration
Maintain Salt intake

Step 7
Once stable may add bifido/lactobacillus weekly (Prothera LactoPrime Plus)
May supplement with deficient vitamins
